Can My Headlight Be Repaired?
Can a headlight be repaired? It depends on what failed inside it. When the fault is in a factory headlight, we repair it by mail anywhere in the U.S., and a few photos are enough to start a free quote.

Can LED headlights be repaired?
Often, yes. An LED section that stays dark, a beam that flickers or a halo that went out usually traces back to a board or driver inside the unit, not the whole headlight. Tell us the symptom and we'll confirm whether the LED or DRL module can be repaired.
If you were told an LED headlight is not serviceable, send photos anyway. The details are in LED Headlight Repair and, for a dead daytime strip, DRL Repair (Daytime Running Lights).
The same goes for an HID headlight whose ballast or igniter failed, and for adaptive units that no longer swivel or level: see HID Xenon Headlight Repair and Adaptive Headlight Repair (AFS).
Water inside, a cracked lens or a broken tab
Damage to the shell of the headlight is often repairable too, as long as the housing is in one piece:
- Foggy inside, or droplets after rain or a car wash: we open, dry and reseal it. Headlight Condensation Repair & Resealing
- A cracked, yellow or hazy outer lens gets a new lens. Tell us what happened to the lens and we will confirm whether the outer lens can be replaced on your headlight. Headlight Lens Replacement Service
- A broken mounting tab that leaves the headlight loose. Headlight Mounting Tab & Housing Repair
- A burnt or peeling reflector. Tell us about the damage and we'll confirm whether it can be repaired. Headlight Reflector Repair
- Impact damage from a minor accident. Broken Headlight Repair
If a tab on a Mini Cooper headlight snapped, see Mini Cooper Headlight Repair. If the low beam on a CX-7 stays dim with a new bulb, see Mazda CX-7 Headlight Repair.
What we can't fix, and what doesn't need us
Some headlights should not be shipped to us. Better to know now:
- A burnt halogen or HID bulb. A new bulb from a parts store or a local shop solves it.
- A blown fuse, a corroded plug or damaged wiring on the vehicle. That is a job for a local mechanic.
- Aftermarket headlights and LED conversion kits. We only work on factory headlights.
- A housing broken into pieces or with parts missing.
- Polishing a cloudy lens: it strips the lens's factory protective coating and the haze returns, so a new lens goes on instead. See Headlight Repair vs. Headlight Restoration: What Is the Difference.

Photos that get you a clear answer
You don't need to remove anything yet. With these photos, your quote can say whether the headlight is worth sending:
- The headlight switched on, and then off, from the front.
- The fault up close: the dark section, the droplets, the crack or the broken tab.
- The label on the back of the housing, if you can see it without removing anything.
- Your vehicle's year, make and model, typed in the form.

Before you send your photos
Can a broken headlight be fixed after an accident?
If the housing is still in one piece, a new outer lens, a resealed shell or new mounting tabs may be enough. Photos of the damage tell us which, and Broken Headlight Repair explains how it works.
Do you repair truck and semi headlights?
Yes, as long as it is the factory headlight, on a pickup or on a rig. See Ram Headlight Repair for pickups and Semi Truck Headlight Repair for owner-operators and fleets.
